  okay...my evil reactionary brother in law is one of my faves.... .

  this talented bastard won every award when he was at the pa academy of fine arts.

  Well, somebody has to support me.. may as well be me, right?! LOL

  Tink: A girl after my own heart - I to have always loved Dali most of all - ever since I was a small child and saw Narcissus in a magazine spread.

  Other than Dali, I've also become a big Picasso fan in the last year (I actually used to hate his stuff, until I saw a video on him and read some books.. and realized the breadth and diversity of all of his works.. No matter whether he did painting, sculpture, prints, or whatever else... He always invented a style in each medium entirely and recognizably his own...) Although, i still think he was a bastard when it came to his treatment of women! lol

  And I also admire Renoir, Matisse, Waterhouse, Van Gogh, Leonardo and Raphael, and the earlier more surrealistic works by Pollock and Miro... to mention just a few... LOL

  Two contemporaries I happen to like include a guy named ROYO...( He does nice paintings of women - usually dressed, under umbrellas, by seascapes and\or grassy fields..) and The Scottish painter Jack Vettriano - who does lots of strange eccentric scenes of people in beach scenes with sinister titles... Vettriano might be deemed rather commercial now too - as many of his paintings can be seen all over on various prints and cards (one of you even uses one of his paintings as an Avatar) ...but I've always admired a good businessman/woman. The whole ideal of 'keeping it wierd and artsy and completely noncommercial' is a crock of shite if you ask me... Art, Literature, or music - If it's good... It ought to be given the chance to sell, if you ask me.

  Just Re-Read 1984

  and i remember the days when the jws warned about the catholics and their "index" of books, movies, and plays that were denied to catholics as being "dangerous" to their faith.

  that is to say, they were revelatory of the actual truth of a matter and the roman church did not want these truths spreading throughout the faithful.

  now the witnesses are up to it to.. have you read 1984?

  Oh no Neon, there's DEFINITELY been many changes and 'sweeps under the rug' since then!... Unfortunately, I've gotten rid of most of my own old JW books now, But when the whole '1914 Generation will live to see the time of the end' prophesy pretty much DIED back in 1995... then all the references to THAT (made in - oh so many WT's and books I saw with my own eyes) were conveniently erased or glossed over in yearbooks following 1995... Which I also saw...

  I believe there's a good deal of this stuff well-documented on 'Watchtower.Observer.org' If you want to look into it further... But it's been happening all along their whole history... Starting with Russell & Rutherford...

  Having been a part of the society WELL AFTER 1975... I used to think that maybe they were right about that whole thing being a hoax brought on by overzealous members...

  Now, After having gone through the '1914 Generation' - I definitely think twice about that - esp. having met many that were around with them during that time.

  i haven't been on this board for a while.

  i've been on a conservative ezboard trying to see if we can't do something about political issues.

  i've also got a new job, had to get the car fixed, been best man in a wedding, and watched the two towers on vhs.

  For me, just having been AROUND JW's for a number of years (since I managed to avoid being Baptized) will have an impact on me for life... However, as many others have stated here - this is not all a bad thing. Personally, I feel I have grown a great deal as an individual and have my eyes MORE OPEN to other people and their motives in ways that I wouldn't have - If I had not had that past experience... and I consider that a valuable asset now really.

  However, for many who have spent a large majority of their lives in this org, and even raised families in it - they may look back on those many long years more with bitterness than growth... I do not believe that any life is a waste.. but I understand the bitterness all the same. All I can hope is that most if not all of these can let go of their bitterness and find some kind of happiness for the remainder of their lives - For any bit of freedom from the JW religion, long or shorter, is well earned... and should not ALSO be handed over to them in wasteful bitterness...

  Xena and Hottie-Pants: I must say, that I'm quite GLAD..... that you took the time to be 'troubled' by who I looked like! LOL flattered...

  But nah, I really don't resemble Hayden Christensen... It's just that particular photo, at that particular angle, at that particular size... lol... But if you saw it close up, you'd see I'm alot different. Strange coincidence though - when I was a kid, I always wanted to be Darth Vader! haha

  ...I've been compared to.

  Long ago it was 'Doogie' Howser.. Needless to say, I didn't care much for that one.

  Sometimes, on the internet by these photos of mine - I get Matt Damon a lot... That's not TOO bad... But his features (nose and chin) are much thicker than mine.. Got a young Peter Fonda once... Don't quite see that one.

  Once when my hair was short and a little blonder than usual, and I happen to have a short goatee.. I managed to get one 'Brad Pitt' out of a woman who walked up to me... Very kind, But I've actually met Brad once, and he's (unfortunately) in my opinion - a bit more glamourous looking than me..
